This is a story that no one knows. A few years ago I managed to secure an interview with a well-known Italian publisher, I had never written a book and the project I proposed was initially liked. Then, due to internal second thoughts at the publishing house, nothing happened. Let me be clear that it was not their fault but only mine, because my project and I were not really convincing. In the two months in which I was almost certain that they would publish it, I walked with my feet off the ground with joy. The vision of me with a book under my belt for one of the major Italian publishing houses was a source of great satisfaction and fulfillment. Until the irrevocable rejection, which made me very unmotivated, heartbroken and disappointed for a few months.
I have had many other disappointments in my professional life, as happens to India Mobile Number Data everyone: the word that is not respected, a customer who does not pay, the competitor who does something incorrect or a finish line that slips away a few meters from the finish line. All these wounds led me to produce antibodies. This defense is called “zero expectations” . When they offer me something that I find tempting, before rejoicing, I ask myself whether it will come to fruition or not, having as a case study the fact that 8 times out of 10 the proposal leads to nothing. However, if I lived with these expectations in reference to actions that are not due to my commitment, but to that of someone else, I would be slowed down and emotionally burdened.
I am happy to join projects that I want and that are proposed to me, but I cannot depend on the emotional states or the alternating conveniences of a person who is not me. I don't want to appear pessimistic or cynical by saying this, I'm saying that not having expectations allows me to be more lucid and concentrated, to be able to work energetically on concrete projects and in which there are strong elements of security such as contracts, paid advances and things that they depend almost exclusively on me. You cannot delegate your personal happiness to others or to the promises of those who have their convenience as their primary aim. Today you can correct your way of being influenced by linking it to concrete facts and your work, so that your goals depend above all on you. “The realization of our expectations regarding life depends on the energy we concentrate on them” , said Swami Kriyananda.
